Terracotta Creative Creature Pot

Unleash your creativity and design & make a flower pot based on:

Monsters, Princesses, Gaming/Comic Characters, Animals

Your Tutor Anna McLeod will take you through the process to bring your ideas to a successful outcome.

• First, you will familiarize yourself with terracotta clay by having a play and make some snails & bugs to live in your pot.
• Learn about handling clay safely.
• Learn to connect clay together using the score & slip method.
• Brainstorm the requirements for a functional plant pot.
• Plan & draw your design and decoration ideas.
• Make a paper template from your design.
• With your tutor’s guidance, construct the main body of the pot by making a cylinder with a base, with pre-rolled slabs of
• terracotta clay.
• Create a mouth, eyes, ears and other monster-like adornments.
• Paint areas of your pot with underglaze colour.

The pots will be carefully dried and kiln fired, ready for pick-up in 3 weeks time.

• This workshop is suitable for kids ages 9-12 who can stay engaged on a project for the duration of the workshop.
• Please wear clothes that can get messy.
• Please bring lunch, snacks and a drink bottle.
